Last Sunday, February 22, Knights of Columbus Council #9714, together with the State Council and the American Wheelchair Mission, held their Wheelchair Drive. Their goal is to “provide a free wheelchair to anyone in the world who needs one and cannot afford one.” We are grateful to those who already donated.

A $150 donation delivers one new wheelchair (retail value ~$500) to someone in need worldwide. Any amount is gratefully accepted.

To donate:

• Pick up envelopes at the Parish Office.
• Make checks payable to: American Wheelchair Mission.
• Contact Grand Knight Gregg Cruz at 650-278-2735. He will handle mailing of donations.

Wheelchairs allow children to return to school, adults to go to work, and elderly individuals—who have sometimes been bedridden for 10–20 years or more—to enjoy dinner with their families again and regain their independence.

Recently, they distributed 800 wheelchairs in the Philippines across the Dioceses of Pasig, Kalookan, Pampanga, Balanga (Bataan), Tarlac, Baguio, and Lingayen-Dagupan. Representatives Glenn Ramos, Rochie Ramos Guintu, and Dennis Guintu (on behalf of  Fr. Ray, St. Augustine, and Council #9714) joined the distributions at Bahay Aruga, San Juan De Dios Hospital, and Tahanan ng Mabuting Pastol in Pasig, Manila.
