Join the Evening Prayers (Vespers)

5 pm Monday to Friday

Come join us to pray Vespers, the Evening Prayer of the Church. It is part of the Liturgy of the Hours, also known as the Divine Office.

Jeremiah Manog and Marijoy Angeles have started facilitating the communal Evening Prayers starting at 5 pm, Monday to Friday. Father Ifeanyi and Father Ray have also participated and been very supportive.

One parishioner walking to Vespers before the 5:30 pm mass said. “I love to join and pray it, it’s beautiful. I have never been to heaven, but I feel like this is what it would be like to be in heaven.” We pray psalms, read scriptures, and sing/chant hymns. The whole thing just takes around 15 minutes, and prayers are projected on the screen.

If you find yourself at church before the 5:30 mass, join us and millions of others throughout the world in lifting up our evening prayer to God: thanking him for the gift of another day, asking him to give us divine strength as we try again tomorrow and every day to do his will.

WEEKLY DEVOTIONS

THE TRAVELING VOCATION CROSS

Confirmation Students earn 4-stewardship hours
for hosting the TVC for one week

The Traveling Vocation Cross (TVC) Program provides an excellent opportunity for families to pray for Vocations at home and teaches young children to appreciate the value of the Priesthood, Consecrated Religious Life, Marriage and Single Life.       This is how the TVC program works: Every Sunday a family, a couple or individual will be called before the dismissal of Misa Pro Populo, i.e. at the 10:00AM Sunday Mass, to receive the Traveling Vocation Cross and a Journal to write their experiences if they wish. In taking the vocation cross they commit themselves to pray during the week in the name of St. Augustine Parish for vocations and to thank all of those generously sharing in Church ministry and for the gift of sisters, brothers, priests and married couples.

At the end of the week, they bring the Vocation Cross back and which is then transferred to a new family, a couple or individual at the next Misa Pro Populo.  To host the Traveling Vocation Cross, please call Elsa Rozal at (650) 922-9618 or email her at
