CELEBRATING GENEROSITY AND HEALING:
Fr. Ray, Fr. Francis, and the Care Team
Courtesy Visit with the Archbishop
On July 25, 2026, Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone welcomed Father Raymund “Ray” Reyes, his living kidney donor Father Francis Garbo, and members of the Care Team for a courtesy visit. The day began with a heartfelt reunion at California Pacific Medical Center (CPMC), where staff joyfully celebrated the priests’ recovery, followed by lunch at Tommy’s Joynt.
The Archbishop expressed profound gratitude for Father Francis’ extraordinary gift of life and praised both priests as inspiring witnesses to faith, sacrifice, and generosity. Father Francis described the extensive medical evaluations required before donation, while the Care Team recounted Father Ray’s difficult 11-month journey through medical emergencies, multiple dialysis catheter placements, and serious infections before his successful transplant. Father Ray reflected that, during his greatest trials, he experienced Christ’s love through his parishioners and devoted Care Team.
The visit beautifully celebrated faith, healing, gratitude, and the life-changing gift of living organ donation.
