SAINT AUGUSTINE PARISH CELEBRATES

the Consecration of
the United States

to the Sacred Heart of Jesus

As the United States commemorates the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, Saint Augustine Parish joyfully joined Catholics across the nation in celebrating the Consecration of the United States to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

A Mass for the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus was celebrated on Friday, June 12, at 9:00 a.m. The Mass was presided over by Fr. Ray Reyes, and Fr. Ifeanyi concelebrated. Following the Mass, parishioners participated in a Eucharistic procession and gathered for a reception in the parish hall.

The celebration was well attended and made even more memorable by the presence of the Knights of Columbus Color Guards. Members of the Knights distributed Sacred Heart of Jesus prayer cards as mementos, reflecting their own consecration to the Sacred Heart. It is also noteworthy that the Legion of Mary organized and led a nine-day novena in honor of the Sacred Heart in preparation for this special occasion.

In his homily, Fr. Ray reflected on the message delivered by Archbishop William Lori of Baltimore during the national Consecration of the United States to the Sacred Heart of Jesus held in Florida the previous day. He emphasized that the Consecration is, first and foremost, an act of faith—a testimony to God's fidelity throughout the 250-year history of our nation. It is an opportunity to thank God and acknowledge His infinite love and providence, recognizing that our nation has been blessed by His guidance and protection.

Fr. Ray also stressed that the Consecration is an act of hope. Our future, he reminded the faithful, does not ultimately rest on political movements, economic forces, technological innovations, or human plans. Rather, it rests in God and in our willingness to embrace the mission entrusted to us for the sake of future generations. Echoing the Gospel reading, he recalled Jesus' words to His disciples: “It was not you who chose me, but I who chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit that will last."

Adding a beautiful touch to the celebration, parish children dressed as angels joined the Eucharistic procession following the Mass. The parish extends its gratitude to the Para-Liturgy Ministry members for preparing and serving the food at the reception.

It was truly a joyous and inspiring celebration of faith, devotion, and fellowship, bringing the parish community together in gratitude and hope under the loving Heart of Jesus.
