Matthew 10:17-22

The first deacon, Stephen, comes in conflict with the Greek-speaking Jews. They are no match for his wisdom but ultimately put him to death. There are several parallels between his final days/hours and Jesus’, including his last words, through which he commends his spirit to the Lord.

Let us pray for all those men and women throughout the world who suffer because they follow you. Give them the courage to endure.
