Stewardship of Talent

Adult Faith Formation Team (AFFT)

The Adult Faith Formation Team is dedicated to planning and implementing a continuing process whereby people can grow consciously in the life of Christ through experience, reflection, prayer and study.

 
Altar Servers

Altar Servers serve in the gathering of God’s people at mass, prayer services, funerals and weddings. They assist the presider, prepare the altar, lead the processions during mass, and ensure that what is needed for the celebration is brought, carried or moved into place.

 

Altar Society

The Altar Society volunteers wash, dry, and iron the linen for use at Liturgy and Sacristy.

 

Bible Study

Bible Study group is a group of individuals, parishioners or non-parishioners, who wish to learn and study the Bible with others in a small group setting. Study of the Bible is done by covering a limited portion of Scripture in an informal and discovery way.

 

Catechists (Children’s Faith Formation)

A catechist (teacher) must be a practicing Catholic willing to share a faith journey with our young people. Love of children and openness to the Holy Spirit are required.

 

Eucharistic Ministry

Extraordinary ministers are lay ministers who are properly formed, trained, and commissioned to assist the clergy during Mass in distributing the Body and Blood of Christ. Training is available with the Archdiocese of San Francisco.

 

Fil-Am Society

The Fil-Am Society promotes the active participation of the members in all parish activities through camaraderie and oneness among all the members. We seek to preserve the cultural heritage of the Fil-Am members and their posterity that could enhance their service to the church and parish community. Membership to the organization is open to all parishioners of St. Augustine Parish with Filipino affiliation either by ethnicity or otherwise.

 

Feeding the Homeless

This ministry provides a way of continuing the mission of Jesus to evangelize the world by showing our love & care for our homeless brothers & sisters.

 

Gabriel Project

The main goal of this ministry is to assist women who are pregnant. As a Gabriel volunteer you will be trained to provide emotional and spiritual support, friendship, material resources, and a great deal of love to pregnant mothers in need of assistance.
 

Homebound Ministry

The Homebound Ministry is made up of lay persons who go through proper training and perform pastoral visitation to homebound parishioners and those in hospitals, nursing centers, care homes or their personal homes.

 

Hospitality Ministry

The Hospitality Committee promotes a welcoming atmosphere in the parish. They welcome parishioners at the front door as they come to Mass or other liturgical events, help people find seats, take up collections, and distribute bulletins after Mass.

 

Italian Catholic Federation (ICF)

The local branch of this large statewide organization meets at St. Augustine. Branch No. 213 is composed of members from a number of parishes in our neighborhood. ICF sponsors a number of social events and supports religious and charitable causes.

 

Knights of Columbus Council

The Knights of Columbus is a fraternal service organization of men, founded under the principles of charity, unity, fraternity, and patriotism. This organization provides men with a vehicle for building up the parish community and family life with an emphasis on family, youth, church, council, and community activities.

 

Landscaping Team

The Landscaping Team works together to update, improve, and help to maintain the grounds surrounding St. Augustine. Our goal is to ensure that our landscaping reflects the sense of welcome and worship we extend to all who enter our sacred grounds.

 

Legion of Mary

The Legion of Mary is an association of Catholic men and women who, with the sanction of  the Church and under the powerful leadership  of Mary Immaculate.  The aims of the Legion of Mary are to increase  the personal holiness of its members through the imitation of the virtues of Mary especially her Faith, Charity and Humility.

 

Liturgical Arts

The Liturgical Arts Ministry visually enhances the sanctuary and other worship areas of the church. The ministry ensures that the church environment is welcoming and liturgically correct, keeping in mind the safety of parishioners and security of the Church. The ministry utilizes and adheres to the liturgical calendar to creatively and visually enliven the sanctuary.

 

Music Ministry

St. Augustine Music Ministry inspires by spreading the fire of the Holy Spirit and encouraging the community to participate. Together we are called to enhance the liturgy through our God-given gifts. Lay parishioners, with musical talent, background and training, can join as an accompanist, instrumentalist, a cantor or a member of a choir, to provide music and enhance the liturgical celebrations in the parish. Music ministers are obliged to attend scheduled music ministry meetings. Please refer to our page for the list of choirs.

 

Para-Liturgy Ministry

The Para-Liturgy Ministry supports and coordinates all devotions and novenas of
the parish.

 

Parents of the Children's Choir

 

Pre-Baptismal Catechesis

This ministry welcomes families who bring infants for Baptism, prepares the needed materials, and assists in the rite.

 

RCIA (Rite of Christian Iniation for Adults)

The RCIA Program is open to any person who has: never been baptized; has been baptized in another religion; has been baptized in the Catholic faith but has never been confirmed in the Catholic faith. The RCIA Program is open to any adult age 18 and above ONLY.

 

Reader Ministry

It is essential that a reader is properly trained and be willing to develop skills in proclaiming God’s word with competence and eloquence. A reader has to come to Mass prepared with the readings that he/she has to proclaim. A reader has to be committed to his/her assigned schedule.

 

Service and Leadership Team  (SALT)

The goal of SALT is to give young people the  knowledge and experience needed to make a  difference in their local and global communities.

 

 Small Christian Communities (SCC)

Small Christian Communities (SCC) are developed to meet the needs of individuals and families and the growing population of St. Augustine Parish.  

 

Socio-Cultural

The Socio-Cultural ministry provides food for parish events.

 

St. Vincent de Paul Society

The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul, St. Augustine Conference is a parish branch of Catholic International Organization wherein the lay people strive to grow spiritually offering person-to-person service to the needy individuals of the community. Assistance offered in complete confidence is given regardless of creed, gender, ethnicity, age or political opinion. Human dignity and personal integrity is what the Society promotes.

 

Youth Group (SAYG)

This ministry allows youth to develop a relationship with Jesus Christ and His Holy Catholic Church through dynamic programming with other teens. Adult volunteers support the teen activities.

 

Youth Adults

This ministry allows young adults to develop a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ and His Holy Catholic Church through worship and service.

 


Finance Council (FC)

The role of the Parish Finance Council is to assist and advise the Pastor in overseeing and controlling the financial affairs of the Parish. The Parish Finance Council is accountable to the Pastor, who has the responsibility for final decisions. Members are appointed by the Pastor. Members are skilled in business and have a variety of experience in management, finance or related field.

 

Parish Pastoral Council (PPC)

The Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) exercises consultative and advisory roles to the Pastor in the administration and ministry of the Parish. It assists the Pastor in implementing all the programs of the Parish and those formulated by the Church and the Archdiocese of San Francisco.

 

Stewardship Council

The Stewardship Council fosters discipleship and facilitates commitments made by parishioners and/or volunteers who recognize and receive God’s gifts in their lives; and helps them find ways to share these gifts with God and neighbor.
