Legion of Mary
The Legion of Mary is the largest apostolic organization of lay people in the Catholic Church. Its purpose is to give glory to God through the sanctification of its members.
The Legion of Mary provides a balance of prayer and service for its members. They go door-to-door to evangelize; visit parishioners in their homes and do census as well; visit the sick and the homebound and give communion; and, provide religious reading materials for the development of faith. One popular practice and tradition members do regularly is the Pilgrim Virgin Statue rotation.
Members meet once a week for prayer, reporting, planning, and discussion. They spend two hours a week in pairs working on a defined task under the guidance of their spiritual director.
